A different environmental spin

GIVEN recent visitations by an international rock star and former US vice-president, who also happen to be high-profile environmentalists, The Note was intrigued to receive an invitation this week to a film that takes a polar-opposite position on environmentalism. The film is ‘Mine Your Own Business’, a documentary that purports to show the ‘dark side’ of the environmental movement, by looking at campaigns by environmentalists against large mining projects in the developing world. Former Financial Times journalist and co-director Phelim McAleer will be in Perth today (November 23) for the screening at Cinema Paradiso, which starts at 6pm, to talk about the film.
