THE 1999 Business Opportunities and Franchise Expo at Burswood Dome in May should attract around 5,000 people.

Now in its seventh year, the Expo is sponsored by the WA Government through the Small Business Development Corporation and endorsed and supported by the Franchise Council of Australia.

Organiser Leigh Kealton said “Each year we are reminded that Western Australians have a huge appetite for information about new opportunities and ideas which can help them get into business and stay successful.”

Visitors to the 1998 Expo viewed a wide range of business opportunities from major retail outlets and promotional businesses to controversial cocktail drink vending machines.

In addition, the free seminars on Starting Out In Your Own Business and workshops on Growing Your Own Business were extremely popular — with some sessions having standing room only.

“Each year, the Expo provides visitors with a close-up look at businesses being offered for the first time as well as an easy introduction to the people behind the established franchise and other business opportunities on offer, without the hassle of making several one-on-one appointments,” Mr Kealton said.

“The format of the Expo also ensures that new business operators and existing business owners can easily talk to professional advisers to ensure they keep up to date on current issues to better structure their growth as well as remaining relevant to their market place.”

The Business Opportunities and Franchise Expo takes place from May 14 to 16 at the Burswood Dome. Admission is $8, opening hours are from 10am to 5pm and there is plenty of free parking.
