Giving up a stable, well-paid job to go it alone is not an easy decision. But it was one Melissa Lekias made three years ago when she swapped a weekly wage to create a public relations and marketing company she believed could do things differently and do them better. Magenta Group is now one of WA’s leading communications companies. Ms Lekias sits on the John Curtin Gallery Board and palys an active role in developing the gallery’s position in the market. Ms Lekias promotes community projects and associations to her employees, a strategy that resulted in the entire Magenta team shaking money tins at 7am in the morning. The money raised went to the Spina Bifida Association of WA.
