The state government has awarded building and construction contracts to a number of local businesses, including Perkins Builders, with the combined value of the contracts worth about $37.3 million.

The state government has awarded building and construction contracts to a number of local businesses, including Perkins Builders, with the combined value of the contracts worth about $37.3 million.

The largest of the awarded tenders was a $22.9 million contract won by Perkins Builders for construction work at a new college in Fremantle.

Due to open in 2018, the new independent public Fremantle College will cater for students in years seven to 12.

The college will include a maritime training centre, an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a new music centre, as well as science laboratories and a performing arts centre.

RJ Vincent & Co has received a $4.4 million contract to provide forward civil work at the state government’s Yanchep Secondary School project.

The new $57.2 million secondary school is due to open its doors in 2019, at which point it will turn the existing Yanchep District High into a primary school.

Cockburn-based Focus Demolition & Asbestos Removal has won a $1.2 million contract to carry out demolition of the Old Karratha Senior High School, including removal of all in-ground services, while Built Holdings has won a $3.4 million contract for office fit-out alterations at the Health Corporate Network on St Georges Terrace.

Pindan has been given a $1 million contract for roof replacement work at Busselton Senior High School, while Malaga-based Chest Constructions received a $1.5 million contract for fit-out and accommodation work for offices in Neerabup which are occupied by the Police.

FIRM Construction received a $2.9 million contract to construct a new canteen and commercial kitchen at Armadale Senior High School, as well as refurbishments to several classrooms.
