$210m coal extension for NRW

A subsidiary of Belmont-based NRW Holdings has secured a $210 million extension of its mining services contract at the Curragh coal mine in Queensland.

Golding Contractors became part of NRW’s portfolio last year, with its operations run out of Brisbane.

The business had previously held the mining contract at Curragh, which expires in October

The mine was formerly under the control of Wesfarmers, which sold out to US company Coronado Coal in March of this year.

The contract extension will be for three years and include a $12 million capital expenditure commitment for Golding.

Golding has about 200 personnel at the site.

"I am extremely pleased that the Golding team have secured an extension to the Curragh contract,” NRW chief executive Jules Pemberton said.

“Golding’s strong safety culture and operational excellence continues to drive our commitment to become a partner of choice to our clients and we look forward to a long and successful relationship with Coronado.”

Shares in NRW were up 2 per cent to $1.31 each at the close of trading.
