Plans are in motion to construct a $15 million hotel and hospitality development at the old Spotlight building on Fremantle’s Adelaide Street.

The Victoria-based property development arm of the Spotlight chain, Glenwaye Pty Ltd, proposes to construct a seven-storey, 151-room hotel after demolishing the existing building, which is currently vacant.

The project will include a restaurant on the ground floor, as well as eight commercial tenancies.

The proposed development has been designed by McDonald Jones Architects.

Community consultation by the City of Fremantle regarding the project is under way, with submissions to close midway through next month.

Meanwhile, Rockingham’s Beachside Apartment Hotel has been placed on the market.

The project’s vendors, Beachside Rockingham and J&A Green, have appointed David Kennedy and Ryan McGinnity of CBRE Hotels to conduct an expressions of interest campaign for the 40-apartment project.

The small bar and café on the ground floor will not be included in the sale.

“The offering affords the opportunity to acquire a strategic real estate asset and one of Rockingham’s best accommodation hotels with full management rights available,” Mr Kennedy said in a statement.

“Put simply, as the hotel is owner-managed, the opportunity to acquire the hotel rooms and reception of Beachside Apartment Hotel will appeal to owner operators or investors seeking to enter the WA hotel market.”

Expressions of interest for the hotel close in early December.

Also today, CBRE announced the Chandeliers on Abbey tourist resort near Yallingup has been listed for sale.

The 15-hectare resort is located close to the Wills Domain, Aravina Estate, Clairault and Knee Deep wineries.

The property is being marketed by CBRE on behalf of the property’s receivers and managers, PPB Advisory.

An offers to purchase campaign will close in early December.
