Canadian company Stantec has disclosed it paid C$135.8m ($147 million) for Perth-based Wood & Grieve Engineers, which it acquired early this year, nearly 60 years after the Perth-based company was established.

Wood & Grieve, which is ranked 19th on the BNiQ Engineers list, signed a letter of intent to merge with Stantec in October last year.

Under the deal, which closed in March, the employee-owned Wood & Grieve has come under the Stantec branding but retained the same management, including managing director Jose Granado.

Wood & Grieve has 600 employees across its operations, which comprise three offices in Western Australia and three in other Australian states.

It has 186 staff in WA, including 105 engineers, according to BNIQ data.

Gilbert + Tobin was Wood & Grieve’s legal advisers for the transaction.

Wood & Grieve was founded in 1961 by former University of Western Australia engineering students Tony Wood and Kip Grieve.

Stantec has over 400 offices worldwide.
