The developer behind the Kardinya Park Town Centre redevelopment has held an official ground-breaking ceremony this morning, following the launch of stage one works last month.

The project will be rolled out in three stages, with stage one comprising major infrastructure works including wall reinforcements and a new tunnel.

Stage one is now under way by construction company Built, targeting an October 2021 completion.

Designed by Hames Sharley, the renewed Kardinya Park Town Centre will feature a supermarket expansion, as well as a dining and entertainment precinct and a nine-storey 78-apartment complex.

The redevelopment for Kardinya Park Shopping Centre will expand its footprint to a total 28,268 square metres of Gross Lettable Area (GLA), comprising 21,244sqm of retail and 6,924sqm of non-retail floor space.

This will lift the centre from 54th position on the Business News Data & Insights list of the state’s largest shopping centres (ranked by GLA) to 24th.

Built director WA Jon Stone said Built had completed similar significant retail, entertainment and residential development projects including Raine Square, Allendale Square and Central Park in the Perth CBD.

“We have put our extensive planning and staging capabilities into the project to minimise disruption to the current retail tenants and customers while the complex works are undertaken and will be ensuring the highest quality and safety standards throughout the project,” Mr Stone said.
