Ron Sayers

Ronald (Ron) Sayers is the Founder and Managing Director of Ausdrill, which he started in Kalgoorlie in 1987. Mr Sayers retired as managing director in 1997, only to return to the role three years later when the company got into financial strife. Mr Sayers is a former non-executive director of Amcom Telecommunications and Carbine Resources. He has a horse-breeding business called Yarradale Stud that he hopes to get more involved in after his retirement, which is scheduled for June 2014. His public profile has increased recently on the back of fraud charges brought against Mr Sayers and his business associate Peter Bartlett which arise from the Australian Taxation Office's long running Project Wickenby investigation. The jury in the pair's Supreme Court trial in late 2013 failed to reach a verdict and a retrial is scheduled for August 2014. Mr Sayers resigned as the managing director and chief executive of Ausdrill in February 2018.
