Michael Hotchkin
Michael Hotchkin has over 35 years of litigation experience as counsel in a variety of courts, tribunals and arbitrations; and practiced in all areas of commercial law, specialising particular in property disputes, planning matters including heritage issues, construction matters, maritime law, trade practices and contractual disputes, and industrial relations (primarily acting for employers). He also provides strategic advice on planning and implementing substantial projects which requires dealing with government at all levels up to State and Federal Ministerial level.

Mr Hotchkin commenced his career with the Crown Law Department and moved to Corrs Chambers Westgarth (when it was called Keall Brinsden) in 1988. He left the firm in 1993 to start Hotchkin Hanly Lawyers with John Hanly, before retiring from the partnership in late 2023 after 30 years at the helm. Mr Hotchkin will establish Michael Hotchkin Consulting in February 2024 which will provide strategic and pre-litigation legal advice, advice on finding litigation expertise, peer reviewing legal work, arbitrating or mediating disputes, board roles and consulting of general business matters including risk management.

Mr Hotchkin is recognised in the 2019 Australian Edition of Best Lawyers, under the categories of “Litigation” and “Commercial Law”.
