JADE Masters has combined his love of music with business to develop VOICE, a professional indigenous arts management company delivering event and tour management, production services and individual artist management throughout Australia and overseas. Indigenous owned and operated, the company’s goal is to economically empower Aboriginal artists and to also enrich the wider community. Mr Masters has 10 years’ experience in the arts industry teaching music, coordinating album publicity campaigns and planning music events. Throughout that time he has found that artists often struggled with the business side of their profession. As manager of indigenous Kalgoorlie band Yabu, Mr Masters created a functioning business structure that followed the most up-to-date accounting practices, with the result that the band achieved national success and improved cash flow. He believes people should have equal opportunity to realise their full potential, that they should expect to work hard but also expect that work will be rewarded and respected appropriately. Mr masters is active in remote Aboriginal communities, organising and participating in voluntary educational programs and those focused on building self-esteem.
