Darren Foster

Darren Foster became director general of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet in July 2017. Mr Foster has been a senior policy, strategy and media adviser in Commonwealth, State and local governments for over 30 years in areas as diverse as environment, treasury and finance, energy, health, education and training, tourism, racing and gaming, and native title. In late 2015, Mr Foster was appointed deputy director general of the Department of Fisheries with responsibility for aquaculture, fisheries management, legal services, environment and biosecurity. Prior to that, he was the director of strategic policy and planning in the Office of the Environmental Protection Authority (OEPA). He was chief of staff to Mark McGowan when Mr McGowan was a minister in the Carpenter government, and deputy director of the government media office and an advisor to ministers including state treasurer Eric Ripper.
