Amanda Paton is a clinical psychologist with over 20 years’ experience working with child abuse and trauma. Ms Paton has most recently held the role of deputy director, practice for the Australian Centre for Child Protection at Adelaide University, where she has also served as program director for the graduate certificate in childhood trauma. Ms Paton was elected president of Westcare in 2022. She has overseen several state and national projects, including the research, development and implementation of evidence-based models and workforce development trainings for responding to child abuse, neglect, trauma and harmful sexual behaviours. Ms Paton was the inaugural chair of the National Clinical Reference Group for Harmful Sexual Behaviours and is a member of the Care Plan Review Panel for WA Department of Communities. She has led the National Child Safety training project for the early education and care sector and served as an expert consultant for UNICEF for Harmful Sexual Behaviours displayed by young people under 18 years in the ASEAN region.
