Earlier in his career, Adam was a Project Engineer with engineering group Clough. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in 1985 and an MBA in 1991 from the University of Western Australia.
His father Malcolm Steinberg was the founder of LAI in 1958 and launched Timezone entertainment centres in 1978. TEEG acquired Timezone for an undisclosed sum and in December 2017 announced plans to acquire the ten-pin bowling and entertainment division of Ardent Leisure for $160 million.
