Zenith Energy was established in 2006 by Doug Walker and fellow director and co-owner Gavin Great. Gavin, a former senior manager with StateWest, had restructured a very successful engineering service group in Cairns into an integrated energy group, expanding it nationally and into Papua New Guinea.
Zenith Energy's corporate office is located in Perth, WA, with the Cairns operation providing a platform for operations in South East Asia and Northern Australia.
The majority of Zenith’s key employees are former StateWest staff, who have collectively amassed a vast amount of experience and expertise. The company now employs 90 staff, has two strategically placed regional offices, and is active in Australia and South East Asia.
In 2015 Zenith entered a joint venture with a major international company working at the leading edge of solar energy generation:
Zenith Energy has established a 50:50 joint venture in Papua New Guinea – IPP PNG P/L – which will give it access to a potentially substantial niche market for off-grid power. Zenith listed on the ASX via an IPO in 2017.
Zenith Energy delisted after it was acquired by a consortium of Pacific Equity Partners and Apex Opportunities Fund in August 2020.
