VGW (which trades as Virtual Gaming Worlds) is an Australian-based technology company that develops and operates online social casino-style games. VGW games include brands such as Chumba Casino, Global Poker and LuckyLand Slots.
VGW uses a freemium model where players can play for free and purchase gold coins for additional plays. These gold coins are for purely social play and cannot be converted to money, but gold coin purchases come with complementary “sweeps coins”. Sweeps coins can be used to play for the chance of additional sweeps coins and can be redeemed for real world prizes.
VGW has more than 1300 staff globally, with approximately 220 staff in its headquarters in Perth, Western Australia.
In 2025, founder Laurence Escalante privatised the business - previously a public unlisted company called VGW Holdings - by buying out most of the 30 per cent of shares he did not own and shifting the domicile of the parent company to the Channel Isalnds.
