Mining ServicesThiess is a major international mining contractor with open cut and underground operations.
It is jointly owned by unlisted company CIMIC Group (which also owns CPB Contractors) and private equity investor Elliott Advisers.
As at July 2022, it operates 22 projects across Australia, Asia and the Americas, with a global workforce of 12,000. Its WA operations include mining services at Covalent Lithium’s Mt Holland project.
In October 2022, Thiess acquired Perth-based contract mining and civil service provider MACA.
