Tattarang Pty Ltd is the holding company for the private business interests of Andrew Forrest and Nicola Forrest. Its investment portfolio includes a 36 per cent shareholding in iron ore miner Fortescue Metals Group. It also has a substantial portfolio of interests in mining (via Wyloo Metals), agriculture (via Harvest Road Group), energy (Squadron Energy), property development (fiveight), hospitality, sport and entertainment (Z1Z) and marine services (SFM Marine).
The name Tattarang was adopted in May 2020, in honour of a horse owned by Andrew Forrest’s mother in the 1950s. The group had previously been known as Minderoo Group since 2013, reflecting the name of the Pilbara pastoral station on which Mr Forrest grew up. Its former names included The Metal Group Pty Ltd, Metal Holdings Pty Ltd, and NMF Investments Pty Ltd.
The Forrests also control the Minderoo Foundation Trust, a philanthropic entity trading as Minderoo Foundation.
