Singapore Airlines has been flying to Australia since 1967, when the then-named Malaysia-Singapore Airlines first began a Singapore-Perth-Sydney-Jakarta-Singapore route. Singapore Airlines wholly-owns subsidiary airlines SilkAir and Scoot.
In 2000, Singapore Airlines joined the Frankfurt-based Star Alliance of 28 airlines including Air New Zealand, Thai Airways, Lufthansa, and United Airlines.
