SPARK Co-Lab was launched in 2016 to runs courses and programs for medical research innovation and commercialisation. The programs run by SPARK Co-Lab are derived from those run at Stanford University under the same name. Mentors form the foundation for SPARK. They advise SPARK participants on product development, clinical care, business, financing and more. Founding partners include EY and Wrays. Directors include surgeon scientist Peter Santa Maria, who joined the University of Western Australia faculty after moving from Stanford University in 2015, Brandon Capital Partners’ investment manager Kath Giles, corporate lawyer Adam Santa Maria, and scientist and adviser Maud Eijkenboom.
