Ngarluma Yindjibarndi Foundation Ltd (NYFL) is a Roebourne-based indigenous organisation that has a diverse range of business interests and delivers an array of social services to its 1,400 members. Its business interests include a cleaning and gardening contract with Dampier Salt at its three Pilbara sites at Karratha, Port Hedland and Lake McCleod. It has interests in a tyre store, hospitality through the Whim Creek Hotel (which it operates as a 50:50 joint venture with the Ngarluma Aboriginal Corporation), Ieramugadu Café in Roebourne and the Pilbara TAFE cafés in Karratha and Hedland. NYFL also receives funding from the North West Shelf Venture under a life-of-project agreement, including funding for a ‘work ready’ training program. Over the past decade, NYFL has contributed $30 million in services to its members through health, education, training, traditional culture, arts and other programs. It has also invested $20 million into community infrastructure, including the building of a cultural centre and property purchases. The Company was placed into administration in March 2018.
