In September 2019 the MRA merged with Landcorp to form DevelopmentWA.
The Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority itself was formed in 2012 to consolidate several separate former redevelopment authorities into a single body to revitalise large areas in and around Central and East Perth, Subiaco, Midland and Armadale. Its role as Perth's redevelopment agency enabled it to transform urban spaces, creating places where people want to live, work and recreate.
