Indian Ocean Rock Lobster

Indian Ocean Rock Lobster is one of WA’s largest western rock lobster processing facilities. Along with the retail business Lobster Shack, it is in the town of Cervantes and is owned by the Thompson family. Members of the extended Thompson family also own and operate much of the town’s lobster fishing fleet.

The family’s presence in Cervantes started in 1966 when David Thompson senior operated his boat ‘Seatips’. David and his three sons (including David and Michael) worked together, and now a third generation of family members is active in the industry.
