Hotel Rottnest was established In 1953, and until 2000 the hotel was operated privately, with a succession of licensees. The hotel lease then returned to the Rottnest Island Authority and was officially renamed the 'Quokka Arms' by then Minister for Tourism, Mr Bob Kucera, on October 2nd 2004. In late 2007 Garrett Hospitality undertook a new lease for the Quokka Arms, and began the task of restoring this landmark lodge, creating a venue worthy of Western Australia's favourite island getaway.
