HBF is WA’s leading health insurer and one of the nation’s last major not-for-profit health funds, supporting almost 1.2 million members nationwide.
HBF merged with its subsidiary fund HealthGuard Health Benefits Fund Ltd (known as GMF to members) in June 2015. The two funds’ combined membership elevated HBF to be Australia’s fourth-largest insurer at the time.
HBF has since broadened its footprint, acquiring CUA Health in 2022 (now re-branded as see-u) and Queensland Country Health Fund in 2024, which continues to operate as its own brand from Townsville. This national growth has been complemented by an expansion of HBF’s health services, including HBF Dental and physiotherapy offerings through HBF Physio, Life Ready Physio and Pilates, and Life Ready Mobile.
