Unseasonable wet weather has caused major frustration for the state’s grain growers, with grains handler CBH Group forced to revise down its harvest estimate as a result of the disruptions.
CBH Group said around 1.2 million to 1.5 million tonnes of grain was still anticipated to be delivered to reach its revised target of 8.5 million to 9 million tonnes.
CBH previously forecast a harvest of up to 9.3 million tonnes.
The weather outlook for the coming week is more favourable to growers, CBH said, and should allow growers to get final tonnes delivered prior to the new year.
