WA this week 10 years ago - Surfin’ WA

THE $1.5 million artificial surfing reef at Cable Station Cottesloe, was given the go ahead by the state government this week, 10 years ago. The government matched an ALP commitment to build a 275-metre boomerang shaped reef between Cottesloe and Leighton beaches. More than 40,000 surfers compete for average waves in Perth that break at only three points along the coast in summer and up to five points in winter.
