Osborne Park-based Veris has been appointed to a major rail project in Sydney where it will complete surveying works under a $2.5 million contract.

Sydney Metro is Australia’s biggest public transport project, expected to cost up to $12.5 billion.

The city is scheduled to have a 66-kilometre underground rail system with 31 stations by 2024.

Veris has been tasked with surveying Sydney Metro’s southwest upgrade under a two-year subcontract with John Holland and Laing O'Rourke, appointed to the project as a joint venture.

The upgrades include improvements to 15 bridges and underpasses, the installation of safety screens, and civil construction work.

The subcontract was awarded to subsidiary Veris Australia, which recently entered an 18-month framework agreement with John Holland to jointly deliver national projects.

Veris Australia is also completing work on the Sydenham Station and Junction upgrade (included in the overall Sydney Metro project) under a $6.7 million subcontract with the JV.

Those services are due to complete at the end of the year.

Shares in Veris remained unchanged on Tuesday, closing at 7.1 cents.
