Timmel steps down as Perth Markets CEO

Perth Markets will begin a fresh search for a chief executive to replace David Timmel, who has stepped down after just six months in the role.

The Market City owner and operator announced today it would launch a national recruitment search to replace Mr Timmel, a former Skilled Group executive, with former Perth Markets Authority boss Stephen Ward filling the role on an interim basis until a candidate is appointed.

In a statement, Mr Timmel said he had reviewed his role and the next phase of development for Perth Markets, and believed it could be best addressed by another candidate.

“With the transition to private ownership now bedded down, and the business established on a solid footing, it’s the right time to move on,” he said.

Perth Markets chairman Paul Omodei said Mr Timmel left the company in a strong position.

“We are very grateful to David for his hard work, and for his achievements over the past six months,” he said.

“He took on a very big job in transitioning a major government asset to private ownership and operation, and has guided us through that process to a very strong position from which to build on.”

The company is also in the process of appointing a property development adviser, and is seeking expressions of interest for the construction of new warehouse space on-site.
