Robb joins Seafarms as adviser

Former federal trade and investment minister Andrew Robb has joined Perth-based aquaculture firm Seafarms Group as it progresses its $1.45 billion Sea Dragon prawn project in the Northern Territory.

Mr Robb has joined Seafarms as a strategic adviser to the company to assist with the investment partnering of Sea Dragon.

“Shareholders will be aware that Andrew was a key developer of the coalition government’s northern Australia policy regarding trade and industry investment in the north; he successfully negotiated Australia’s three important free trade agreements in the Asian region,” Seafarms said in a statement.

“Prior to entering the federal parliament, Andrew spent many years in business and particularly agribusiness.”

Seafarms said Mr Robb had strong relationships in the Asia Pacific region – a major focus for the company’s Sea Dragon project.

“Andrew has a thorough understanding of Sea Dragon and an intimate knowledge of the issues and opportunities for northern Australia and Sea Dragon,” it said.

“Seafarms continues to progress its licences to operate. This is a timely appointment for the negotiation of offtake and financing arrangements to bring Sea Dragon into operation.”

Seafarms shares were 2.5 per cent higher to 8 cents each at the close of trade.
