The Western Australian division of Programmed Facility Management commemorated NAIDOC week this year by announcing the launch of our new First Nations uniforms.
The uniforms – being rolled-out across the country, feature the artwork of Western Australian artist Rohin Kickett.
Rohin, who proudly attended the launch in Burswood, is a Noongar artist from the Balardong region, located in the Wheatbelt.
Rohin creates works of art inspired by his family stories of strength and survival, along with his own personal experiences growing up in Perth.
Head of FM – Western Australia and Resources John Pirie said it was great to have new national uniforms featuring a Western Australian artist.
“Launching the new uniforms during NAIDOC Week was especially memorable,” John said.
“The new designs will no doubt help us continue the conversation of recognising and celebrating First Nation communities.”
Aboriginal Elder Nick Abraham performed the Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony – an especially poignant moment for Programmed staff.
Various styles of uniforms will be rolled-out and are already appearing in PFM work sites across the State, including Wadjemup-Rottnest Island.
