Liberal leader Paul Omodei has moved to establish a Parliamentary Procedure and Privileges Committee to investigate allegations made by Shelley Archer that the Premier misled the Parliament to the he House in regard to his actions in requesting the resignation of Ms Archer.

Mr Omodei said that lying to the Parliament was a serious allegation that needed to be properly investigated.

The committee would report by 1 April next year.

"I'm not putting myself up as judge and jury. I will let the proper process take its course," Mr Omodei said.

"The comments from Shelley Archer about the Premier's dependence on Brian Burke for his job come as no surprise to anyone.

"It is common knowledge that either Alan Carpenter or his underlings like Mark McGowan were doing deals with Brian Burke to get the numbers for the Premiership.

"The issue now is whether the Premier misled the Parliament over his actions in relation to Shelley Archer.

"If Alan Carpenter has nothing to fear he will support this move and welcome the scrutiny.

"To look into that I have moved a motion for a committee of privilege to be set up to look into Shelley Archer's allegations that Alan Carpenter lied to the Parliament."

Mr Carpenter has denied the allegations.
