Global education provider Navitas has signed a partnership agreement with Queens College at The City University of New York (CUNY), as part of the public university’s internationalisation strategy.

Under the deal, Navitas will operate a global student success program for Queens College, which is the second largest of the 11 colleges at CUNY.

In addition to recruiting international students to attend the college, Navitas will also recruit eligible international students for direct entry into Queens College’s degree programs.

The agreement is for an initial five-year term with potential extensions for an additional five years.

Navitas chief executive David Buckingham said the company was delighted to be working with a leading institution in the US.

“We are excited to support the college with its internationalisation strategy, which will enable more students from around the world to benefit from the excellent academic programs and vibrant student life that Queens College and the New York City area have to offer,” he said.

Queens College offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs from a 32-hectare campus with state-of-the-art facilities.

Last month, Navitas reported a 14.4 per cent decrease in profit for the half year to December, as expenses related to BGH Capital’s first takeover bid hit the company’s bottom line.

Shares in Navitas were down 0.71 per cent to close trade $5.59 each.
