Education provider Navitas has renewed its university pathway program agreement with the University of Massachusetts Boston for a further 10 years.

The agreement builds on a partnership Navitas and UMass Boston established in February 2010, along with partnerships with the University of Massachusetts Lowell and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth for pathway colleges on their campuses, in January 2010.

“UMass Boston has a rich history and is an innovative and enterprising educational institution we are proud to partner with,” chief executive Rod Jones said.

Navitas is in negotiations for agreement renewals with the UMass Lowell and UMass Dartmouth.

UMass Boston provost Winston Langley said the university was pleased with the renewal of the partnership agreement with Navitas.

“We see it driving the next stage of the internationalisation of the university,” Mr Langley said.

Earlier in the month, Navitas posted a 13.2 per cent fall in half-year profit to $31.3 million, despite a gain in revenue, on the back of a $9 million writedown following a contract loss with Macquarie University last July.

Navitas shares were 0.4 per cent higher at $4.64 per share at 9:45am.
