Paraplegic Benefit Fund (PBF) aims to reduce the incidence and impact of spinal cord injury and to reduce the impact for people already living with paraplegia or quadriplegia. The organisation achieves this through its PBF Prevention programs, which raise awareness of serious injury and help to develop knowledge and prevention skills. PBF also has a gifting program and hosts fundraising events, such as the Simpson Desert cycle challenge. This week is Spinal Injury Awareness Week, which aims to raise awareness of the risk of spinal cord injury in the community. The focus of the awareness campaign is falls, as 34 per cent of spinal injuries result from preventable falls.
