Jane den Hollander will step in as Murdoch University's interim vice chancellor next month as Romy Lawson assumes her new role with Flinders University.

Professor den Hollander was previously interim vice chancellor at the University of Western Australia, serving in the role for significant parts of 2020.

Prior to that, she spent close to a decade as vice chancellor of Deakin University, and previously worked as deputy vice chancellor at Curtin University.

Chancellor Gary Smith welcomed Professor den Hollander's appointment and thanked Professor Lawson for her work in an email sent to staff earlier today.

"As always, I will keep you updated as we progress the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor," he said.

Professor Lawson assumed the role of acting vice chancellor in July before being named deputy vice chancellor of students for Flinders University in September.

She took on the job following the departure of Eeva Leinnonen, who in March announced she would join Ireland's Maynooth University as president.
