MinterEllison confirms EQ move

Brookfield Properties has confirmed multinational law firm MinterEllison is set to move into its $800 million One The Esplanade development from its current home at Allendale Square.

MinterEllison will join fellow international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills and oil and gas giant Chevron, who have both moved from QV1.

The law firm committed to a 12-year lease across 2,500 square metres across and one and a half floors in the fully-leased building.

According to Business News Data & Insights, Minter Ellison is the state’s second largest law firm and Herbert Smith Freehills is the largest.

Brookfield Properties senior vice president development and property Nick Ozich said the relocation of another blue-chip tenant from St Georges Terrace indicated the strength of Elizabeth Quay.

“We’re seeing tenants gravitate to premium buildings like One The Esplanade in locations that provide their staff with a healthy workplace through design and amenity,” he said.

“We’re pleased that Elizabeth Quay is fast establishing itself as a dynamic commercial centre, drawing the CBD back to where it belongs on the waterfront.”

MinterEllison Perth office managing partner Mike Hales said the company was attracted by the attributes of the newly fit out space.

"One The Esplanade is a premium office space that ticks all our boxes for workplace collaboration and innovation” he said.

“It will support our flexible and hybrid ways of working, and allow our people to perform at their very best.

"The building’s location and its features including advanced technology, on-site amenities and sustainability ratings are great.”

MinterEllison has signed a lease and expects to move in by March 2024.
