Former Westpac head of consumer bank WA Allan Maitland has been recruited as the chief executive of PictureWealth’s advisory business.

Mr Maitland will be responsible for the growth of the advisory across its operations in New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland and its expansion into Victoria, while company co-founder David Pettit will continue to lead the group.

A financial planner for 20 years, Mr Maitland has held several positions at Westpac and worked as the state general manager of BT.

Prior to working in financial planning, he was a police officer.

Mr Pettit said Allan was a seasoned professional who brought a depth of experience that was hard to find in the local market.

The news comes after the company secured $14 million from an institutional investor at the end of 2021.

The money will be used to build its technology stack and continue the acquisition and digitisation of financial planning practices.

PictureWealth co-founder and chair Neal Cross said the company was also moving into a new 60-person office in the Perth CBD.

Mr Cross said the recent investment, the hiring of Mr Maitland and the new office gave the company a strong start to the year.

PictureWealth offers a free, digital financial management platform allowing users to monitor their net worth, income, cash flow, superannuation, insurance policies and estate planning.
