Hillam Architects appoints Stantec’s Brett Davis as CEO
Subiaco-based studio Hillam Architects has appointed its first chief executive in five years.
Hillam Architects has announced Brett Davis as its new chief executive, as part of a leadership transition.
Mr Davis joins from Stantec, formerly Wood & Grieve Engineers, where he has held national executive leadership roles.
Hillam Architects principal David Hillam will continue as design lead, focusing on strategy and business development.
"Over the life of the studio, we have operated with different leadership structures, including former CEOs,” Mr Hillam told Business News.
“Following the departure of the last CEO along with other leadership changes approximately five years ago, I have taken a stronger role in leading the studio.
“This has allowed me, working with the current executive team, to respond to those changes and put in place various initiatives, responding to a dynamic market environment.”
During his time at Wood & Grieves, and later Stantec, Mr Davis was involved in delivering major projects including Optus Stadium, WA Museum Boola Bardip and Elizabeth Quay.
“Having spent almost 30 years in the property industry as a design professional, I really am excited to take on this new challenge of assisting David and the Hillam team to expand our horizons and grow the offering of our services,” Mr Davis said.
“For the last six years I led a large national team through significant transformational change, and I am very much looking forward to bringing these skills to the Hillam practice as we grow and diversify the team.”
In its announcement, Hillam Architects said the CEO appointment was part of the studio’s growth while preparing for new opportunities and ways of working in a fast-changing industry.
“Brett is respected for both his technical and practical understanding of the design and construction of projects and his equal commitment to fostering a high performing values driven team culture,” Mr Hillam said.
Hillam Architects’ design portfolio includes the proposed Ocean Beach Hotel redevelopment, the recently opened Riviere Residences in Applecross, and the Dunes apartments in Scarborough.
