INTERNET service provider Highway 1 Internet Solutions has bought three more local ISPs in the past three months.
Last week, Highway 1 bought the customers and assets of two Malaga-based operations – EON Technology and NerdNet Internet – for less than $100,000 after purchasing Worldwide Internet at the start of May, adding 700 business customers to its books.
About 600 business customers came from EON and NerdNet combined, about 100 from Worldwide, plus a handful of residential clients.
These deals take Highway 1 to five acquisitions for the year after Apiix and its sister company, Simtex, were bought for less than $1 million from Osborne Park-based Intek in January.
Highway 1 general manager, Nicholas Power said no staff transfers would occur.
“There’s only minimal cost, negligible really, to add 600, 1,000 or 2,000 customers and not have to increase staff numbers,” he said.
