Fortescue Metals Group chairman Andrew Forrest has been appointed to the Art Gallery of Western Australia’s board.
Culture and the Arts Minister John Day said Mr Forrest had an established association with the gallery through his work as the chairman of the Art Gallery of WA Foundation and would be an asset to the board.
“Andrew is a passionate philanthropist and an active member of the state’s arts community,” Mr Day said.
Mr Forrest will step aside as chairman of the Art Gallery of WA Foundation as he begins his two-year appointment today.
He founded the Minderoo Foundation in 2001 and FMG in 2003.
He stepped down as FMG’s chief executive in 2011 to become chairman.
