Female CEO for WA Treasury Corp

The state government's trend of appointing female leaders to run key agencies has continued, with Kaylene Gulich appointed chief executive of the Western Australian Treasury Corporation today.

WATC is the state’s central borrowing authority, additionally providing investment management and financial advisory services for the WA public sector. 

Ms Gulich will be the first female chief executive in the organisation’s history, and will begin a five-year term in February.

She has worked in a number of senior executive roles within the Western Australian Department of Treasury, and has previously held the position of deputy chairperson of the WATC board.

She also currently serves on the board of the Gold Corporation. 

Ms Gulich will take over from John Collins, who has held the position since 2009.

Treasurer Ben Wyatt congratulated Ms Gulich on her appointment.

“She will bring extensive experience in commercial transactions, financial management of the Western Australian public sector and oversight of the State’s economy, and is well-placed to lead WATC into the future,” Mr Wyatt said.

“I also thank Mr Collins for his long and successful tenure as CEO, having helped guide WATC through a period of significant change. I wish him well in his future endeavours.”

Five other women have recently been appointed to director general (or equivalent) roles in the state, including: Lisa Rodgers with the Department of Education; Caroline Spencer as auditor general; Rebecca Brown with the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation; and Jodi Cant, who moved from Landgate to head the Department of Finance.
