Empired takes on more work

Local IT business Empired has secured a $10 million conract to provide infrastructure managed services to an unnamed global oil and gas company, under a three-year term.

Empired, which was awarded a $15 million contract for similar services earlier this week, will provide workplace services, server operations, storage management, database management, network management and service desk for the company’s Australian and regional assets, as well as a range of project services.

The professional services portion of the contract requires Empired to provide consulting, technical and project management skills, as well as the supply of specialist equipment to support a range of business needs, including new technology deployments or upgrades, establishment of new sites, and rig mobilisation or demobilisation.

Empired said the contract was strongly contested through a rigorous procurement process where, ultimately, it was selected to replace a major global IT services provider.

While not disclosing the identity of the client, Empired managing director Russell Baskerville said it was one of the leading oil and gas companies in the world.

“Securing this contract adds to our strong base of long term, contracted recurring revenue and further fuels our ability to continue to win and deliver major strategic contracts that underpin our business model,” Mr Baskerville said.

“We are confident that we will deliver high-quality, business value-focused services over the coming years and look forward to being a valuable strategic partner.”

Shares in Empired were 0.6 per cent lower to 81 cents at 10am.
