John Howard Tribute Dinner The Liberal Party of Western Australia is to hold a tribute dinner for former prime minister, John Howard, on Tuesday July 8 2008 at the Hyatt Grand Ballroom. Events: Western Australian Citizen of the Year Award Celebrate WA, with the support of the state government, is holding the 2008 Western Australian Citizen of the Year Award on Foundation Day, June 1. The nine Citizen of the Year Awards, the Sir Charles Court Inspiring Leadership Award, and the Bendat Family Foundation Perpetual Youth Scholarship will be announced and presented by WA Governor Dr Ken Michael at a gala presentation dinner in the grand ballroom at Burswood Entertainment Complex on Sunday June 1. WA Pitch: What’s Your Formula? Applications are being called for WA Pitch ’08, an event designed to connect business ventures with development capital. The Australian Small Scale Offerings Board will provide the winning business with a listing on the Australian Small Scale Offerings Board, valued at $40,000 (based on an average $500,000 capital raising), a runner-up prize valued at $11,000 and third prize valued at $10,000. The 10 short-listed businesses will receive business mentoring through ASSOB as well as presentation, pitch training and audio-visual resources. Staged at the State Library WA on Friday July 11, WA Pitch ’08 is to be hosted by ASSOB and the WA Innovation Centre – WA Department Industry and Resources. Eighth Energy in Western Australia Conference The WA government, through the Office of Energy and the Australian Institute of Energy (AIE), is holding The Energy in Western Australia Conference, with the theme ‘Securing Our Energy Future’.
