Craftwest Centre for Contemporary Craft Inc (Craftwest) has undergone a rebranding after 30 years as a not-for-profit incorporated association.
Craftwest is now known as Form: contemporary craft and design.
A three-year period has allowed for the transition from a traditional service organisation to an industry body.
Among its aims Form hopes to “enrich and expand the creativity and commercial sustainability of the State’s professional designer-makers through establishing key alliances”.
The rebranding decision was a response to growing pressure from members, government and corporate partners to reflect a position as catalyst for change within creative industries.
Form’s objectives revolve around the artistic and commercial potential of the Western Australian craft and design sector as an important contributor to the development of the State’s economy.
Form will target three general areas to establish a niche for Western Australian creativity on the world stage: artform development, industry development, and retail.
