Clough wins US LNG work

Engineering firm Clough and its recently acquired US subsidiary, CH·IV International, have been appointed owner's engineer on the planned Magnolia LNG project in the US state of Louisiana.

The company behind the Magnolia project is Perth-based Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd, which owns the US project through its subsidiary, Magnolia LNG LLC.

After a tender process, Magnolia LNG has appointed Clough-CH·IV as owner’s engineer for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) phase of the project.

The new contract supports the strategy Clough chief executive Kevin Gallagher articulated last August when he announced the $US5 million acquisition.

“This is a strategically significant acquisition which provides a platform to enter the North American LNG market, and the attainment of highly specialised LNG skills that can complement Clough’s LNG service offering globally,” Mr Gallagher said.

“The acquisition aligns with Clough’s strategy to build a globally competitive business and expand our global footprint and services to our oil and gas clients.”

As owner’s engineer, Clough-CH·IV will provide technical and project execution support personnel to Magnolia LNG.

It will also provide oversight to the main EPC contractor, which is a joint venture between Kellogg Brown & Root and SK E&C (KSJV).

LNG Ltd also announced today that the KSJV had agreed on updated contract terms and conditions, including the scope of work and contract schedules.
