FIRM Construction will complete a series of upgrades to senior schools in Ocean Reef and Mandurah, while ADCO Constructions has secured work in South Hedland.

The largest of the contracts, worth about $13 million, was awarded to West Perth-based ADCO in September to complete upgrades at Hedland Senior High School.

The project includes the construction of a new sports hall and four general learning classrooms, as well as a major upgrade to Hardie House.

Perth-based designers T&Z Architects and MPS Architects were appointed to the project last year.

ADCO beat one other tenderer for the contract, awarded by the Department of Finance.

The redevelopment is expected to be finished before June next year.

Meanwhile, the department has awarded two contracts to Subiaco-based FIRM Construction, including $4.8 million for the construction of a new sports hall and upgrades to the existing fire main at Ocean Reef Senior High School.

The hall – designed by Wangara-based Cox Architecture – will include sports courts, change rooms, and an equipment storage space.

Construction is expected to finish before July next year.

FIRM beat out five other contractors for the works, according to Tenders WA.

The business will also rebuild a performing arts centre and physical education area at Lakeland Senior High School under a $5 million contract, awarded in September.

Work is under way, with the new facilities expected to open in 2022.
