What? ~ An app that uses blockchain technology to ensure photos, videos and audio recordings are never altered, and remain in their original state.

Uproov (‘you prove’) involves using a unique time-stamped encryption key for every image or recording, which is then locked. Even a photo of the photo cannot be taken, which the company claims is a world first.

Where? ~ Website www.uproov.com, Apple app and Google Play stores.

Who? ~ This is the first blockchain project from the team at Ledger Assets (incorporated in mid 2015) – co-founders John Bulich and Govert van Ek, Nuno Martins (chief tech officer), Sheree Ip (legal), Andre Ashton (R&D) and Jay Akther (software engineer).

Quote ~ “There are so many opportunities in this new space and it’s something that our team is totally fascinated in

-John Bulich

$ ~ The technology has applications in multiple industries including notary services, property leasing, car rentals, industrial hire and anywhere there is a contract.

Development was funded by a number of high net worth individuals, and the company is not currently raising funds. Uproov has thousands of users (mainly in the US) and was runner-up in Blockchain startup pitch competition in San Diego recently.

Uproov was launched on December 19 2015 and is currently ranked #4 in BNiQ Startups List
