John Roberts
The late John Roberts was the founder of construction business Muliplex. He formed the group in 1962 and built it to become one the nation's biggest building companies, focused on high rise office towers and other major built form projects. He listed the business on the ASX in 2003 but the company ran into turbulent waters with the troubled Wembley stadium project in London, its signature development as part of a global diversification. he died in 2006 at the age of 72. Multiplex was then run by his son Andrew. He had two other children, Tim and Denby.
In 1988 Mr Roberts was awarded an Order of Australia for his contribution to the Construction and Horse Racing industries. His
contribution to the property industry was widely acknowledged, and was recognised by the Australian Constructors'
Association in 1999 when he received a Lifetime Achievement Award.
