Far West was started in 1983 by James and Mary Ch’ng with a single boat catching scallops in Shark Bay and a factory based in Carnarvon. As the business became more successful, more boats were added and Far West expanded into new fisheries.
In 1998, Far West moved into its current premises. The factory received a significant upgrade in 2014 when a new production line was installed.
The business is still owned and operated by the Ch’ng family.
